Welcome back to Voices from the Eyrie and welcome to our first episode of 2026. We’re officially entering the final tier of Season Two, and we’re kicking it off with “Vendettas.”
We’re joined by the episode’s writer Cary Bates, along with Jamie Thomason and Greg Weisman. This episode is a bit of a unicorn. It’s the one episode Jamie didn’t voice direct, with Greg stepping in as voice director, and we dig into exactly why that happened and how it shaped the finished product. We talk about the script versus the animation that came back, the creative decisions along the way, and how those differences mattered.
We also get deep into Wolf and Hakon, including why Hakon was brought back at all and the implications of making them related. From there, things get delightfully unhinged as we celebrate the character of Vinnie, Mr. Carter, Mr. Acme, and the minor miracle of getting Disney’s lawyers to sign off on all of that.
And because this is Voices from the Eyrie, we also tackle the truly important questions, like why banana cream pies are objectively the funniest pies, what our personal favorite pies are, and much, much more.
And First Impressions is back as we discuss the first issue of “Gargoyles Meets Darkwing Duck” – Spoilers from 0:55 to 8:30.
